1. Make the brief of norms,folkways and law.

-Norms  
Norms are the specific cultural expectations for how to behave in a given situation. They are the agreed-upon expectations and rules by which the members of a culture behave. Norms vary from culture to culture, so some things that are considered norms in one culture may not be in another culture.

-Folkways
A folkway is a norm for everyday behavior that people follow for the sake of convenience or tradition. People practice folkways simply because they have done things that way for a long time. Violating a folkway does not usually have serious consequences.


-Law 
A law is a norm that is written down and enforced by an official law enforcement agency. Driving while drunk, theft, murder, and trespassing are all examples of laws in the United States. If violated, the person violating the law could get cited, owe a fine, or go to jail. 

Please distinguish norms and folkways by giving their each example. at least 2.

-Norms 
A norm is a guideline or an expectation for behavior. Each society makes up its own rules for behavior and decides when those rules have been violated and what to do about it. Norms change constantly.
example :
- Smile when ur being introduced to someone u dont know
- You say please when u ask for something


-Folkways 
A folkway is a norm for everyday behavior that people follow for the sake of convenience or tradition. People practice folkways simply because they have done things that way for a long time. Violating a folkway does not usually have serious consequences.
Example: 

- Holding the door open for a person right behind you is a folkway.
- We learn to walk on the right side of the road.. and if we walk on the left side.. it's not illegal but usually people don't do it. 


The differences between ethnocentrism and assimilation

 Ethnocentrism 

Ethnocentrism  is judging another culture solely by the values and standards of one's own culture.The ethnocentric individual will judge other groups relative to his or her own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behavior, customs, and religion.

Assimilation  
 
Assimilation is a social process that occurs when there are groups of people with different cultural backgrounds, get along with each other intensively for a long time, so that eventually their native culture and his form will change the nature of a new culture as a form of cultural mixture.
