Global diffusion in Indonesia

As the beginning of the global diffusion in Indonesia is restaurant fast food such as KFC and A&W. in my opinion, that is not good enough for Indonesian,  because Indonesian  will begin to forget their  traditional food of Indonesia and would prefer to buy food or consume that food. As we know fast food is unhealthy food. And that will have an impact for income of traditional food seller.

1. Parts of our material culture reflect cultural diffusion.
 Traditional food like rendang,rendang came from Indonesia specially padang, and now can we find rendang in the other country.

2. Three examples of ethnocentrism
1. American think that that using chopstick in every meal is strange and stupid.
2. In java, javaness  think that they are the best culture and they think that they are greatest culture, so if someone come to java and they come from the other culture,they think that those people are strange.
3. Another example is kissing in public like the Americans do is unusual in the Philippines especially for the elders in the country. If you do it on public, people would watch and talk about you and their impression would be bad. Unlike in western society, it is just normal and casual and not bad at all because it is their practice

Culture lag in Indonesia
In my opinion cultural leg in Indonesia has advantages and disadvantages.
The disadvantage is the old cultures that exist in Indonesia more disappearing because replaced by a new culture.
The advantage is citizens of Indonesia can following the new era and technology.

The difference between ethnocentrism and cultural relativism

Ethnocentrism is the belief that your particular culture is "right" or better than another culture with different ideals, lifestyle, etc...

Cultural  Relativism is the understanding that different people have different cultures and applying that to situations in which different cultures are involved

Examples of cultural shock

1. In Paris, when out for a morning walk you say "Bonjour!" to everyone you pass and get a cheery "Bonjour!" in return. Do that in New York and people will scurry away from you lest they be shot, importuned or molested.

2.  Asians consider it rude to meet gazes too long (longer than a second), however, it is just the opposite in some western countries. So when a westerner meets an Asian, the Asian thinks the westerner is rude, the westerner thinks the Asian is sneaky.

3. in Indonesia difficult to get food made ​​from pork, it is because in predominantly Muslim Indonesia, Islam considers pork was dirty and unclean. so if there are tourists who are accustomed to eating pork in his country they will be confused because he would find it difficult to get food processed from pork in Indonesia
